Wednesday’s Workout – The Benefits of Cycling


Here in Austin it can sometimes be a little tricky trying to find good routes to cycle. Unfortunately the city planners didn’t expect the growth that the city has had and as such cycling routes were sort of an after thought. Most cyclist have to compete with cars on various roads or pack up their bikes and drive to a safer location.

For this reason I have 2 bikes…well maybe a few more. I mean really, can you have just 2 bikes and be satisfied? Well apparently some people can, but me, well… One of my “current” favorite bikes to ride is my single speed Spot Rocker. This was a replacement for my stolen Salsa single speed. Yep it was stolen out of our carport even though it had a rather large chain lock.

I like riding a single speed because of it’s simplicity. Just one gear to worry about regardless of what terrain is in front of me. I don’t have to worry about messing with gears or adjusting them or anything else for that matter. I just get on it and ride.
