If you like to hold a Yoga pose for an extended period of time, If you want to sweat like crazy holding that pose, than Bikram Yoga is your calling. Bikram Yoga consists of holding 26 poses in a 107-degree heated room for an hour and a half. Many Yoga studios will promote what they call “Hot Yoga”, but in reality it is just yoga in a hot room and not Bikram. Certain poses require more flexibility, balance and strength. As your flexibility, strength and balance grows you’re able to hold the poses longer and you’re able to attempt more advanced positions.
Bikram practitioners claim that the hot room allows the body to cleans and detoxify. Bikram studios will often do what they call the “30 day challenge”. People sign up for these challenges tying to complete 30 straight days of Bikram Yoga.
Time Allocation: From my experience Bikram requires a significant chunk of time. Plan on about 2.5-3 hours. 15-30 minutes to get to the studio and change, 1.5 hours to workout and 45 minutes to shower, cool down get to work or go home.

You’ve probably have heard about the CrossFit craze from some of your friends. Crossfit means serious no joke no mess around workouts. Crossfitters like to push their limits using old school equipment in warehouses known as the box and outdoors. If you’re into waking up at 5am, like to use climbing ropes, gymnastic rings, and lots and lots of weights, you’re going to love Crossfit. The workouts are really intense combining both speed and power. You will learn to have a love-hate relationship with workouts named after people.
Crossfitters have their own vocabulary, which can sometimes come off rather funny when you hear “Annie didn’t have a chance today” or “I just crushed Cindy” These of course refer to workouts named after females (“The Nasty Girls” of CrossFit) and are often Benchmark CrossFit Workouts.
To get the most out of Crossfit, you will need to be dedicated and show up. If you stick with the program, you will see massive changes in your body and fitness level. Unlike at home workouts, people who do Crossfit will develop a strong bond with those who workout with them. Getting down and dirty in a gym with other like minded people will do that to you.
As a CFer you will probably hear about the Paleo diet, the Stone Age diet that many in the CrossFit community promote.
Time Allocation: Crossfit workouts usually last between 40 minutes to 1 hour and consist of about 15 minute warmup, 10 minutes of instructors going over the moves, 15-30 minutes of hardcore CF workout routines and 15 minutes of cool-down. Factoring in compute time to the box and you’re looking at about 1.5 to 2 hours.

They have workouts with names like Ab Ripper, which will make even the toughest man cry. Expect to sweat through 60- to 90-minute workouts six days a week. The program is designed to last for 90 days. If you stick with it, you will see amazing results in the last month.
